Sherman & Howard/Swendseid & Stern Tops Nevada and Colorado Bond Counsel Rankings

Firm Also Stands Strong in National Bond Counsel Rankings
 
January 27, 2010  - The law firm of Sherman & Howard/Swendseid & Stern* topped the Bond Counsel rankings for Colorado and Nevada last year. In addition, the firm ranked sixth in the nation as bond counsel on competitively sold bond issues, fourth in the nation as Disclosure Counsel and 16th in the nation as Bond Counsel based on total par amount of all bond offerings according to the most recent rankings released by Thomson Reuters. The firm ranked fourth in the nation as Bond Counsel on Build America Bonds.

Nevada Rankings

The firm, which practices in Nevada as Swendseid & Stern, finished first in Nevada in 2009 as both Bond Counsel and Disclosure Counsel, both by total par amount of all bond issues and by the number of bond issues. The firm saw a 36 percent increase in number of bond issues in 2009. Swendseid & Stern served as Bond Counsel on 49 offerings in 2009, involving a total par amount of $3.164 billion.

Colorado Rankings

In Colorado, the firm finished first in 2009 as both Bond Counsel and Disclosure Counsel for the total par amount of all bond issues. The firm finished first as Disclosure Counsel and second as Bond Counsel based upon the number of issues. The firm saw a 19 percent increase in the number of issues and a 6 percent increase in the par amount of issues in 2009. The firm served as Bond Counsel on 62 offerings in 2009, involving a total par amount of $2.281 billion. The firm also finished sixth in terms of the number of bond offerings for which it served as underwriters counsel.
